Novuhair: Nature’s Answer to Hair loss

9 Min Read

How does hair grow?

Hair undergoes cycles of growth which last for about 2 to 6 years. Each hair grows about 1 cm per month. Under normal condition, 90% of the hair in your scalp is in growth phase and 10% is in resting phase. The resting hair will fall out after 2-3 months and new hair will start to grow in its place.

Anagen, the 3 to 5 year development phase, is when a full-length mane appears. Then catagen period enters, but only for 10 days or shorter. Lastly, Telogen is the resting stage when strands are released and fall out.

If hair fall is part of the normal process of the hair growth cycle, when would it become abnormal?

It is normal to shed 50 to 100 strands each day as part of the hair growth cycle. Beyond this number, it is considered abnormal.

What causes excessive hair loss?

Factors such as hereditary disorders, illness, major surgery, hormonal problems, childbirth and delivery, medications and infections may cause excessive hair loss.

What could stop or prevent hair loss?

Treatment will depend on the type of hair loss, but keeping the hair and scalp clean is important to prevent hair fall. If you are taking medicines that cause hair loss, then your doctor might want to prescribe a different medicine. Also, treating an infection or any fungal scalp condition may help to stop hair loss. You may also use shampoo or scalp lotion that could provide nourishment to your scaip, stop hair fall and stimulate hair growth.

NOVUHAIR Aloe Vera

Excessive hair loss is common in men and women and is viewed as part of aging. Often, men feel less attractive and less masculine when losing hair. Women find it socially disturbing to have thin hair or bald patches.

In search for the answer to hair loss problem, we developed a formulation of various natural plant extracts, known as NOVUHAIR®.

NOVUHAIR® is a combination of standardized herbal extracts with essential oils and co-factor nutrients, specifically chosen for their hair growing properties. With the presence of the following herbal extracts:

Ginger (Zingiber officinale), a nutrient and stimulant directed at hair bulbs that enhances blood circulation. Together with Aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis), it is an effective hair grower with anti-septic and anti-inflammatory properties.

Other circulation enhancers and hair growth stimulants in NOVUHAIR® are Ginseng (Panax ginseng), which has nourishing effects on the scalp; Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica), which counteracts free radicals in the environment and naturally promotes hair growth; and Indian gooseberry (Phyllanthus emblica), a hair tonic that spurs luxurious, black hair growth, and prevents hair graying.

B-vitamins Biotin and D-panthenol (B-5), important for the growth of healthy hair and skin, significantly reduce the occurrence of hair loss and stimulate the growth of strong hair.

Similarly, Malunggay (Moringa oleifera) prevents falling hair by working straight on the hair bulbs through a sulfur compound, thiocyanate.

Aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis), a hair conditioning agent and also a hair growth stimulant, has anti -fungal, -viral, -bacterial and -inflammatory properties that help fight against androgenetic alopecia, a common cause of hair loss. The ingredient also acts as a natural cleanser.

Other natural cleansers in NOVUHAIR® include Virgin Coconut Oil (Cocos mamillaris), which helps control dandruff and moisturize the scalp.

Peppermint (Mentha piperita) slows the growth of bacteria and fungi, with refreshing, antiseptic properties that relax the muscles and relieve itching.

Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) cleanses scalp pores, while Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) and Lavender (Lavandula officinalis) disinfect and enhance blood circulation to the scalp, as well as help stimulate hair growth. These essential oils also have anti-dandruff properties, with the ability to penetrate into the hair shaft, decrease capillary permeability and relieve itching.

Prunus amygdalus dulcis (Sweet Almond oil) is a moisture rich oil that contains vitamins A, Bl, B6 and E and with the presence of other minerals such as magnesium, iron and unsaturated triglycerides. All these vitamins promote hair growth and the minerals provide nourishment to the hair. It easily penetrates well into the hair shaft and follicles, helps relieve hair dryness and itching, and promotes a healthy scalp.

Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius) is rich in polyunsaturated fats, containing linoleic acid (omega-6 Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs)), saturated fats, and oleic acid (omega-9s-monosaturates). With high amounts of oleic acid, Carthamus tinctorius protects, nourishes, hydrates and firms the hair. In addition, linoleic acid has a dirt- and oil-removing and conditioning capability with a softening effect. When applied to the scalp, it acts as a vasodilator which can dilate the blood vessels, resulting in more nutrients supplied to the hair follicles through blood circulation, and also a healthy environment for hair re-growth.

Fibro Actif (Butylene Glycol, Water, Soybean (Glycine Soja)) Germ Extract, Wheat (Triticum Vulgare) Germ Extract), revitalizes hair growth.

Acacia concinna (Shikakai) – is a “fruit for hair”. It has a long history as a mild cleansing agent and doesn’t strip hair of natural oils. It acts as detangler and can be used as anti-dandruff.

Healthy Hair Tips

  1. A healthy lifestyle will result into healthier hair. Excessive stress, smoking, insufficient sleep, lack of regular exercise and imbalanced nutrition is unhealthy for your hair.
  2. Avoid the use of plastic-bristle brushes. A combination of natural boar bristles on either a round or a flat brush are best for dry hair, while soft, rubber-toothed wide-paneled brushes are best for damp hair.
  3. Brush before shampooing. A few gentle strokes on dry hair will help remove hair tangles and scalp flakes. It also stimulates the scalp, promotes blood circulaü0ii, (which delivers nutrients like oxygen) to the hair follicles.
  4. Shampoo residue may dry your hair and scalp and attract dirt. It is recommended that you only lather once to avoid drying out your hair.
  5. Be gentle when washing your hair. use your finger pads to massage your hair. Remember, the hair is most vulnerable when wet.

Healthy Scalp Tips

  • Know the ingredients of your shampoo

Chemical based shampoos contain harmful chemicals that may damage the texture of your hair. NOVUHAIR® Herbal Shampoo gently cleanses the scalp thereby prevents the formation of dandruff, stops hair fall and prevents premature graying.

  • Massage regularly

Use NOVUHAIR® Topical Scalp Lotion to massage your hair. Hair massage soothes nerves and relaxes the muscles.

  • Prevent Dry Scalp

One of the main causes of dry scalp is shampooing with hot water. This can strip the essential oils and cause dryness of your scalp. So, to avoid dryness and to retain essential oils on your scalp, wash your hair with lukewarm water. Also try to avoid excessive blow drying as this can lead to dry scalp.

  • Avoid applying hair care products directly on the scalp.

Do not use tight caps and hats as such may lead to poor blood circulation on the scalp. Do not exchange hats or caps with others.

If you continue experiencing excessive hair fall, please consult your doctor.
