Filipino tennis superstar Alex Eala will face Indonesia’s Janice Tjen in her homecoming match on December 8 at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan.
In a video message, Eala announced that she will take on Tjen in an exhibition match entitled “Alex Eala Live: Game. Set. Celebrate,” organized by Tatler Sports at the country’s biggest arena, which has a capacity of more than 50,000.
“Get ready for an unforgettable day of world-class tennis and the celebration of national pride, designed to inspire the next generation of Filipino tennis players,” Eala said.
“I can’t wait to share this moment with you and celebrate our culture together,” she added.
Alex Eala Holds No. 18 WTA Ranking
Eala is currently ranked No. 18 in the WTA rankings, the highest-ranked player from Southeast Asia.
Eala’s current ranking comes as she prepares for her homecoming match against Tjen on December 8 at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan.
Alex Eala and Janice Tjen Previously Teamed Up
Eala and Tjen previously teamed up in the doubles event of the Abu Dhabi Open, where they reached the semifinals.
The two players will now face each other in the exhibition match entitled “Alex Eala Live: Game. Set. Celebrate” at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan.
Alex Eala Advances to the Third Round of the US Open
Eala advanced to the third round of the US Open after beating Mary Stoiana, 6-1, 6-2, in the first round and Oleksandra Oliynykova, 6-1, 6-4, in the second round.
Eala will next face her close friend Iva Jovic tomorrow (Sunday), 7 a.m. (Manila Time).
After her US Open campaign, Eala is set to return to the Philippines on December 8 for her homecoming exhibition match against Janice Tjen at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan.
