Under the sun and sea breeze of Discovery Samal, Epson Philippines Corporation gathered its media partners for Fusion 17, turning its annual engagement into a more meaningful exchange of ideas grounded in action, collaboration, and shared responsibility.

Now in its 17th year, Fusion continues to evolve as a space for open conversations around Epson’s priorities, innovations, and long-term direction. This year’s theme, ECOPRINT, reflects a simple but powerful belief: that real impact is built over time through everyday decisions, consistent practices, and strong partnerships.

Epson Philippines Reinforces Sustainability Through ECOPRINT

During Brand Talk on Day 1 of Fusion 17, Epson executives shared how sustainability is embedded across the company’s strategies and operations, including its long-term direction under the Engineered Future 2035 vision.

The discussion highlighted Epson’s commitment to developing solutions that address real-world needs while considering their long-term impact on businesses, communities, and the environment. Sustainability was presented not only as a corporate objective but also as a guiding principle behind the company’s technologies, operations, and partnerships.

“At Epson, sustainability is part of how we work every day. It guides the way we develop our technologies, run our business, and work with our partners and communities,” said Masako Kusama, President and Director of Epson Philippines Corporation. “This reflects the impact that grows from these everyday actions. Through Fusion, we are grateful for the opportunity to share ideas, learn from one another, and continue building meaningful partnerships.”

The session provided media partners with a closer look at how Epson continues to align innovation with environmental responsibility through practical and measurable initiatives.

Sustainability in Technology and Operations

Epson shared how sustainability is reflected not only in its environmental programs but also in the technologies it develops to help customers operate more efficiently.

The company highlighted its Heat-Free technology and energy-efficient printing solutions, which help businesses manage operating costs while reducing power consumption and resource use. These technologies support Epson’s broader commitment to creating solutions that contribute to operational efficiency while addressing environmental concerns.

The discussion further showcased how these sustainability principles are applied within Epson’s own operations. Through initiatives such as waste segregation, recycling programs, and its employee-led Trash to Treasure campaign, the company continues to promote responsible waste management in the workplace.

In FY25 alone, Epson Philippines collected more than 1,100 kilograms of plastic waste and over 1,100 kilograms of shredded paper for recycling and upcycling efforts. These initiatives demonstrate how everyday practices can contribute to larger sustainability goals while encouraging employee participation and environmental awareness.

Strengthening Environmental Partnerships

Beyond its own operations, Epson continues to work with partners and communities to support environmental initiatives.

Among the projects featured during Fusion 17 was Epson’s partnership with WWF-Philippines in Pio Duran, Albay, which aims to strengthen local waste management through improved waste collection, plastic recycling, and community capacity-building programs.

The company also highlighted its Corporate Waste Collection Program, first piloted in Davao and later expanded to Cebu. Through the initiative, Epson helps channel partners properly collect, dispose of, and recycle used consumables and other waste materials.

These initiatives reflect Epson’s commitment to extending sustainability efforts beyond its workplace and into the communities and business networks it supports.

Innovation, Collaboration, and Shared Experiences

Complementing the discussions, media partners took part in Conquer the Elements: The Samal Challenge, an interactive island-wide activity.

Participants navigated a series of challenges inspired by different elements, testing teamwork, adaptability, and problem-solving across various locations around Samal Island. The activity provided an engaging way for participants to experience the event’s themes while strengthening collaboration among attendees.

Through conversations and shared experiences across Samal Island, Fusion 17 reflected the intent behind the ECOPRINT theme, showing sustainability and innovation as ongoing practices shaped by everyday decisions, collaboration, and consistency.

A Fusion to Remember

Beyond the discussions and sustainability initiatives, Fusion 17 delivered one of the most memorable experiences in the event’s history. Having attended several Fusion gatherings over the years, this year’s edition stood out for its balance of meaningful conversations, engaging activities, and opportunities to strengthen relationships among media partners.

The Conquer the Elements: The Samal Challenge added an extra layer of excitement to the event. Our team came close to securing another victory, falling short by just two points according to one of the organizers. While the result was a near miss, the friendly competition and teamwork made the experience all the more enjoyable.

More importantly, Fusion 17 successfully demonstrated how sustainability conversations can be made more impactful through collaboration, participation, and shared experiences. It was a reminder that meaningful partnerships are built not only through discussions but also through the connections formed along the way.

Personally, this year’s Fusion was by far the best one yet. The combination of insightful discussions, meaningful sustainability initiatives, and engaging activities made the experience both productive and memorable. Our team nearly secured another win during the Samal Challenge, missing the top spot by just two points according to one of the organizers. While we fell just short, the friendly competition only added to the excitement and camaraderie that defined this year’s event. With Fusion 17 setting a high bar, there’s plenty to look forward to when the next edition arrives.
