TCL has marked its 45th anniversary with the inauguration of the TCL Industrial Museum in Huizhou, China, the city where the company was founded in 1981. Built on the former factory site of TCL’s predecessor, TTK, the museum chronicles the company’s development alongside the evolution of China’s electronics industry.

The TCL Industrial Museum showcases 45 years of technological innovation, business transformation, and growth. Its collections highlight significant milestones in electronics and display technology, offering visitors a closer look at the products and developments that have shaped TCL’s history.

“The TCL Industrial Museum is not only about preserving the journey behind us, but also about inspiring the journey ahead,” said Li Dongsheng, Founder and Chairman of TCL. “Over the past 45 years, TCL has grown through entrepreneurship, transformation and innovation. As we enter a new chapter, we will carry forward the same boldness and commitment to create new possibilities for the future.”

45 Years of Innovation and Transformation

Spanning more than 23,000 square meters, including over 9,000 square meters of exhibition space, the TCL Industrial Museum brings together more than 3,000 curated pieces across six exhibition halls and a central atrium.

The museum’s collections cover key eras of technological development. Highlights include a 1920s Nipkow mechanical scanning disk, China’s first television set, China’s first commercial computer, and the world’s first mass-produced printed OLED 4K display, developed by TCL CSOT in 2024.

The television gallery also features more than 100 vintage television sets from around the world. These exhibits document important developments in television technology and demonstrate how electronic products have evolved across different generations.

Through its collection of historical artifacts and modern technological achievements, the TCL Industrial Museum connects the company’s early beginnings with its more recent innovations. The exhibits also reflect the technological progress that has contributed to TCL’s development over the past 45 years.

By preserving these milestones, the museum serves as a record of TCL’s evolution while highlighting the innovation and transformation that continue to shape the company’s direction.

Strategic Focus Powers Global Growth

Beyond preserving products and historical milestones, the TCL Industrial Museum highlights how the company has adapted its business strategy as industries, technologies, and markets have evolved. One of the most consequential turning points came in 2019, when TCL completed a major restructuring that established TCL Technology and TCL Industries as two independently operated entities.

TCL Technology focuses on display and new energy businesses, while TCL Industries specializes in smart devices and services. This structure has enabled each business to strengthen its strategic focus and pursue growth opportunities within its respective markets.

The impact of the restructuring is reflected in the companies’ revenue growth from 2019 to 2025. TCL Technology’s revenue more than tripled, increasing from approximately US$8.4 billion to US$27 billion. During the same period, TCL Industries’ revenue more than doubled, rising from US$11.7 billion to approximately US$24.9 billion.

Alongside revenue growth, the restructuring has strengthened TCL’s position across its core businesses. TCL TV ranked No. 2 globally by shipment volume in 2025. According to Omdia, TCL CSOT also ranked No. 2 globally in overall TV panel market share that year.

In clean energy, TCL Zhonghuan is the world’s largest producer of solar-grade silicon crystals and a key supplier in the global silicon wafer market. These achievements demonstrate TCL’s presence across television products, display panels, and clean energy.

The company’s broader progress also received recognition in 2026, when TCL was named one of TIME’s World’s Best Companies. This recognition adds to the milestones marking TCL’s development as it continues to strengthen its global business operations.

Together, these achievements reflect how TCL’s strategic transformation has supported revenue growth and strengthened its position across several technology-driven industries.

The Next Chapter: Technology Leadership with Purpose

With the TCL Industrial Museum sharing the journey that brought the company to its current position, TCL is now looking to the future through a series of initiatives. As a Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partner, TCL connects people with technology through one of the world’s most universal cultural platforms.

The company is also extending its engagement across culture, society, and sustainability through TCLArt, TCLforHer, TCLGreen, and TCLYoung. These initiatives form part of TCL’s broader efforts to develop its global brand and reinforce its engagement with different communities.

At 45, the boldness and commitment that have shaped TCL’s story remain central to its future. The company will continue advancing its technology, pursuing sustainable growth, and strengthening its global brand-building efforts.

TCL also aims to strengthen its role as a responsible corporate citizen and trusted technology brand. As the company enters its next chapter, the inauguration of the TCL Industrial Museum marks an opportunity to preserve its history while looking ahead to future developments in technology and business.
