TCL Expands TESDA Training Program for HVAC Technicians in the Philippines

6 Min Read

Following the successful debut of its inaugural training initiative, the global leader in TV and air conditioning technology, TCL, is elevating its partnership with TESDA through the launch of its second batch of technical training. The program focuses on installing domestic refrigeration and air-conditioning units and introduces an extended training duration designed to provide a deeper and more immersive learning experience for Filipino trainees.

Expanded Training Program with a Hybrid Learning Model

This year’s curriculum marks a significant upgrade from last year’s lecture-based approach. The 2026 program introduces a hybrid learning model that combines advanced technical theory with intensive hands-on application. This evolution is designed to ensure that trainees gain not only theoretical understanding but also real-world competencies aligned with the demands of the modern HVAC industry.

By integrating practical exposure into the learning process, the program strengthens industry readiness and equips participants with the skills necessary to handle installation, repair, and maintenance of air-conditioning and refrigeration systems in real working environments.

“This second chapter of our training program marks a significant milestone in our mission to uplift Filipino talent. As we envisioned, this session provides aspiring technicians with the essential tools and practical experience they need to succeed in today’s competitive landscape. By focusing on real-world skills and industry-standard technology, TCL is dedicated to transforming learners into professionals who will strengthen our workforce and lead the future of the industry,” says Joseph Cernitchez, TCL Brand Manager.

Strengthening Public-Private Partnership in Technical Education

The initiative further solidifies the growing collaboration between TCL and TESDA, reinforcing the importance of public-private partnerships in technical education and workforce development. As a dedicated industry partner, TCL has been actively supporting the creation of employment pathways that connect training directly to job opportunities.

TESDA Center Administrator Mr. Eugene P. Agcaoili highlighted the importance of the collaboration, stating, “We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to TCL for partnering with RTC-NCR to make this training possible. This collaboration is a strong example of what public-private partnerships can achieve. Creating meaningful opportunities for skills development and contributing to the growth and competitiveness of the Filipino workforce.”

The training was conducted at the TCL-TESDA Center located within the flagship TESDA RTC-NCR facility, where 25 trainees participated in a structured three-day program.

From Skills to Success: Hands-on Learning and Industry Exposure

The second installment of the TCL Training Program successfully brought together twenty-five motivated trainees for an intensive learning experience. Over three days, the curriculum was divided into two core components: lecture-based instruction and hands-on training. Each session was carefully designed to reinforce essential pillars of HVAC work, including installation, repair, and maintenance.

Beyond theoretical learning, participants engaged in practical sessions that allowed them to directly apply their knowledge using industry-standard tools and techniques. The presence of TCL Product and Service teams further enriched the program, as they provided expert insights and real-world guidance based on their technical experience.

A key highlight of the training was its focus on TCL’s smart product ecosystem. Trainees were introduced to the technical functions and specifications of modern TCL appliances, including smart technology integrations such as the TCL Home App and Voice Command features. By learning how to service connected appliances, participants gained valuable skills relevant to today’s evolving smart home environment.

TCL partner B2B dealer Firstar, led by Pika Lee, also joined the program to support the learner profiling initiative scheduled for the final day. This phase transitioned the training into a formal evaluation and mini job fair, providing participants with opportunities for professional assessment and potential employment placement. The initiative was designed to identify high-potential individuals and connect them with long-term career opportunities in the HVAC sector.

Certification and Career Pathway Development

The program concluded with a certificate awarding ceremony that marked the trainees’ official transition into the workforce. The certification validates their acquired skills in TCL technology and serves as a pathway toward employment in authorized service centers nationwide.

“At TCL, we are dedicated to investing in the people who keep the industry moving. It’s been a privilege to support the upskilling of our Filipino technicians through this program. While this session has ended, our commitment has not — stay tuned for even more training opportunities as we continue to inspire greatness and build the future of technical excellence together,” Cernitchez exclaims.

Through this initiative, TCL and TESDA continue to strengthen workforce development in the Philippines by combining technical education, industry collaboration, and job placement opportunities. The program not only enhances individual skill sets but also contributes to the long-term competitiveness of the Filipino HVAC workforce in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
