Xiaomi today officially unveiled the Xiaomi 18 Fold and Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max, both powered by the latest Xiaomi XRING O3 SoC. The launch introduces Xiaomi 18 Fold as the company’s first-ever mid-size foldable smartphone, combining a compact form factor with an expansive tablet-like display.
When folded, Xiaomi 18 Fold reaches approximately the size of a passport. When unfolded, it reveals a 7.58-inch display while weighing just 219g and measuring only 5.02mm thick. The foldable smartphone combines portability, a large screen, flagship performance, AI capabilities, and photography features in a single device.
Alongside the Xiaomi 18 Fold, Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max expands Xiaomi’s flagship tablet lineup with a focus on professional productivity. Its large 13.3-inch display, flagship Xiaomi XRING O3 processor, Xiaomi HyperOS, advanced multitasking capabilities, and AI-powered features are designed to support work, creativity, gaming, and entertainment.

New Form Factor: From Single-Hand Fit to Full-Screen Views
Xiaomi 18 Fold adopts the same √2:1 aspect ratio as standard A4 paper. This design allows the foldable smartphone to achieve a higher screen utilization rate across different types of content, including 16:9 video, 4:3 photos, documents, and more.
Both the inner and outer displays share the same aspect ratio. This makes the transition between the two screens feel more natural and creates a seamless user experience when moving between the folded and unfolded configurations.
When folded, Xiaomi 18 Fold measures 117.8 × 83.6mm and has a thickness of 10.68mm. At 219g, it is lighter than all previous Xiaomi foldable smartphones. Super-elliptical large R corners and a flat-edge frame contribute to its smooth in-hand feel and appearance.
The compact 5.38-inch outer display also supports convenient one-handed interaction. Inputs such as pull-down gestures, typing, and back gestures can be performed with one hand, making the smaller folded configuration practical for everyday use.
When unfolded, Xiaomi 18 Fold opens into a 7.58-inch main screen inside a slim 5.02mm body. Xiaomi HyperOS has been optimized specifically for Xiaomi 18 Fold to deliver a seamless multi-window experience.
The two-way split feature creates two well-proportioned viewing areas. The three-way split option divides the display into three sections, with each area using a layout close to that of mainstream full-screen smartphones. This approach gives the large foldable display greater flexibility for multitasking.

Folding Architecture: Engineered for Greater Reliability
Xiaomi 18 Fold uses high-strength materials across its critical components to support long-term durability. The device features a high-strength 7000-series aluminum alloy frame and Xiaomi Shield Glass 3.0 on both the outer display and back panel.
The cover glass receives additional strengthening through ion implantation for improved drop resistance. The new-generation Xiaomi proprietary hinge also features a patented three-link design that wraps around the screen. This construction provides additional protection while creating more space for the display.
Xiaomi 18 Fold also debuts a dual-layer Ultra Thin Glass, or UTG, structure. It combines a 50μm upper UTG layer with an additional 30μm UTG support layer to provide enhanced protection for the inner display.
The touch layer also receives an updated construction. Xiaomi replaces the previous inorganic insulating material with a more stretchable organic film, further improving impact resistance.
Combined with reinforced hinge-area construction, these improvements make Xiaomi 18 Fold Xiaomi’s most reliable foldable smartphone to date. The device offers 258% higher inner display impact resistance and supports drops from up to 1.2m.
The optimized display stack also produces a flatter inner display, with an average crease depth of no more than 30μm.
Xiaomi XRING O3: Flagship AI SoC Unleashes Next-Gen Power
Xiaomi 18 Fold is the first Xiaomi flagship powered by Xiaomi XRING O3, Xiaomi’s second SoC designed entirely in-house. Built using a 3nm process, the chip contains 24 billion transistors, increasing from 19 billion on the previous generation.
Xiaomi XRING O3 combines a 10-core all-big-core CPU with a 16-core GPU. The SoC also introduces architectural-level optimizations to CPU memory latency. These improvements accelerate data exchange while supporting higher overall performance and lower power consumption.
The 10-core CPU consists of two Ultra cores, four Premium cores, and four Pro cores. Together, these cores handle a broad range of tasks while delivering 60% higher performance and 25% lower power consumption compared with the previous generation.
For graphics performance, Xiaomi XRING O3 features the new G2-Ultra NX GPU with a 16-core configuration. The GPU delivers an 85% increase in graphics performance while reducing power consumption by 64% compared with its predecessor.
Xiaomi XRING O3 also becomes the first SoC to support the latest LPDDR6 RAM. The memory delivers data rates of up to 10,667 Mbps and uses a 24-bit interface width, compared with 16-bit on LPDDR5X.
The new RAM reaches a total memory bandwidth of 113.8 GB/s, representing an almost 50% increase over LPDDR5X-9600.
AI also plays a central role in Xiaomi XRING O3. AI acceleration units are integrated across key processing blocks at the architectural level. This allows lightweight AI workloads to run without unnecessarily invoking the NPU, improving execution efficiency while reducing power overhead.
The NPU uses an all-new quad-core low-power design based on SIMT architecture. Each NPU core combines a Tensor unit with dual Vector units, delivering 200 TOPS of tensor performance using A8W4 and 3.13 TFLOPS of vector performance.
When combined with Xiaomi MiMo’s proprietary five-value quantization technology, Xiaomi XRING O3 delivers 45% faster on-device decoding performance compared with the previous-generation flagship processor.
Through Xiaomi XRING O3, Xiaomi 18 Fold delivers stronger performance, longer battery life, and better thermal control for everyday multitasking, large-screen gaming, and extended video playback.
Leica Photography, Perfected for the Fold
Xiaomi 18 Fold features a 200MP Leica triple-camera system led by a 200MP main camera powered by a flagship HP5 1/1.56-inch sensor.
The main camera supports native high dynamic range and in-sensor lossless zoom. The camera system is joined by a 50MP Leica periscope telephoto camera with an inverted design.
The inverted telephoto design reduces module size while delivering smooth, naturally rounded bokeh. With an 80mm focal length, the telephoto camera is suited to portrait photography.
Its in-sensor zoom extends the range to 160mm with lossless zoom. This gives the camera added versatility for landscape photography while maintaining the capabilities expected from the Leica camera system on Xiaomi 18 Fold.
