With their mission of making healthcare a fundamental right for every individual, the Pasig Doctors Medical Center celebrated its 7th year of commitment to the community on June 12th with the purpose of providing free medical consultations accessible to everyone in the community.
Libreng Konsulta para sa Lahat
With a dedicated team of healthcare professionals, PDMC underscores free medical consultations as they express gratitude to the community for their trust and support, reaffirming their pledge to continue serving with compassion and excellence in the years to come.
“This is our way of giving back to the community, especially to the less privileged,” said Dr. Ma. Mayumi B. Gillana, President of PDMC’s Board Members and Officers.
The Free Consultation program was organized into three parts. One of PDMC’s initiatives, known as “Libreng Konsulta sa Mata: Ikatlong Yugto,” commemorates three years of offering free consultations specifically for ophthalmic needs. Led by the Department of Ophthalmology at Pasig Doctors Medical Center, this initiative highlights their dedication to addressing eye care concerns in the community.
The second initiative, “Libreng Konsulta sa Bukol: Ikalawang Yugto,” signifies the second year of providing free consultations for concerns related to nodules, abnormal growths, or lumps. This was spearheaded by the Department of Surgery of the Pasig Doctors Medical Center.
The final offering of free consultations is called “Libreng Konsulta: General Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and OB-Gyne.” Aims to provide medical assistance to individuals who have been underserved and lacked access to high quality and specialized healthcare for their general health and wellness.
Additionally, the event was graced by the presence of Barangay Manggahan Chairperson Quin Cruz. He expressed that the collaboration between PDMC and their barangay marked the beginning of new endeavors in health and education initiatives.
“Iyong pagpapalakas ng mga school clinics, tinitingnan namin ‘yon, ‘yung pagcre-create ng little doctor class sa bawat eskwelahan. Magiging katuwang namin ang PDMC hindi lamang sa mga ganitong gawain patungkol sa mga medical mission kundi as training and research na rin ng PDMC para sa barangay Manggahan,” Mr. Cruz said in an interview.
Seven Years of Healthcare for all
Dr. Mayumi B. Gillana expressed during their 7th anniversary celebration that she found deep inspiration in their ability to give back to the community they serve. She highlighted the unwavering commitment of healthcare professionals in providing essential healthcare services to individuals, instilling a strong sense of purpose in their mission.
“I am inspired by the fact that during the anniversary on the 12th of June, we get to give back to the community we cater. It is giving back that inspires me,” Dr. Gillana said.
The seventh-year anniversary of PDMC resonates with genuine dedication and compassion, highlighting their steadfast commitment to serving the marginalized and making high-quality healthcare accessible to every Filipino.
It’s also a commemoration of enduring generosity, reminding us that we all have the capacity to lend a helping hand to our fellow human beings, particularly those who are in need.
“I want to convey that all of us may serve in our own capacity and capability to our fellowmen, especially the underprivileged. This is in whatever capacity each one of us has, not for a doctor but any one of us can go an extra mile to exert efforts to give back and help improve each other,” said Dr. Mayumi in an interview.
The PDMC’s Libreng Konsulta Story
The story behind the Libreng Konsulta mission by PDMC traces back to the day the hospital first opened its doors to the public as a private healthcare institution. This significant moment took place in 2017, symbolizing the beginning of PDMC’s commitment to providing accessible healthcare services to its constituents, and to everyone in the community.
In their years of offering free consultations to the community, PDMC has been moved by countless stories that reinforce their commitment to service. Patients frequently open up about their personal challenges, illustrating how genuine initiatives enhance not only their physical health but also their mental well-being.
“I can share that during the past years we conducted the medical mission, one of the most precious things I consider is being able to provide a safe space for patients to share and support their mental well-being,” Dr. Mayumi narrated.
Furthermore, the concept of offering free medical consultations wasn’t confined to anniversary celebrations alone. According to Dr. Mayumi, they also conduct free consultations throughout the year as a means of giving back to the community, particularly to those who are underprivileged.
Truly, PDMC remains committed in its mission to improve the health and well-being of all individuals they serve. The Libreng Konsulta mission is just a result of their unwavering dedication to the core values of compassion, love for their service, and community empowerment.
