AirAsia Philippines recently showcased its commitment to gender diversity and inclusion by operating an all-women flight from Manila to Caticlan (Flight Z2 227) on Monday. This special flight featured an all-female team, including pilots, cabin crew, engineering staff, ground personnel, and ramp agents, demonstrating the airline’s dedication to empowering women in aviation.

From check-in to takeoff, women led every stage of the flight experience. Captain Jasmin Timola, a seasoned AirAsia Philippines pilot with nearly a decade of experience, commanded the flight. Alongside her, an all-female cabin crew ensured passengers’ comfort and safety throughout the journey. Supporting operations on the ground were female staff handling check-in counters, security, engineering tasks, and ramp services, emphasizing the airline’s efforts to break gender barriers in the industry.

AirAsia Philippines takes pride in employing over 700 female Allstars, representing 39% of its total workforce. This substantial female presence underscores the airline’s commitment to gender diversity. The broader AirAsia Aviation Group surpasses global industry standards, boasting 7% female pilots and 8.9% female engineers. Additionally, the airline actively promotes gender representation in technology through its #WomenInTech initiative, aiming for 30% female participation in tech-related roles.

“Gone are the days when the aviation industry was considered a ‘man’s world’. I humbly take pride in being part of the strong women in AirAsia. Each year, the number of women in our workforce continues to grow—a progressive commitment to an inclusive workplace. We are consistently winning for our guests because there are equal opportunities for all,” said AirAsia Philippines Chief Finance Officer Zoe Lee.
