Canon Marketing (Philippines), Inc. and the Armed Forces and Police Savings and Loans Association, Inc. (AFPSLAI) have launched Phase 2 of AFPSLAI’s Records Digitization Project. This development strengthens their partnership and advances AFPSLAI’s modernization of loan processing operations.

Building on Phase 1 Success

The collaboration between Canon and AFPSLAI began with Phase 1, which focused on digitizing millions of membership records. That phase laid the foundation for improved recordkeeping and accessibility. With Phase 2, the scope expands to cover AFPSLAI’s loan records, ensuring a more comprehensive digital system that aligns with the institution’s operational goals.

Automating Loan Records with Canon Therefore™

The second phase will automate AFPSLAI’s loan records through Canon’s Therefore™ Document Management System. Canon Business Services is set to digitize approximately 15 million pages within six months. This process will establish a centralized, secure, and easily retrievable database of loan records. The new system aims to streamline workflows, reduce manual tasks, and enhance efficiency in loan processing.

By automating records, AFPSLAI expects to improve accessibility for staff and members. The digital repository will also help safeguard sensitive loan information with advanced security measures, minimizing the risk of data breaches and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Supporting Compliance with DIGICUR

The project directly supports compliance with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ Digitization of Customer Records (DIGICUR) requirements. DIGICUR outlines standards for recordkeeping and customer data management in financial institutions. By meeting these requirements, AFPSLAI strengthens its position as a reliable financial services provider while ensuring that members benefit from a more secure and compliant system.

Canon emphasized that Phase 2 represents a major step toward smarter records management. “Phase 2 marks our move from digitization to full workflow automation, helping AFPSLAI achieve smarter records management and faster service delivery,” said Kenichiro Kitamura, Head of Business Imaging Solutions Division, Canon Marketing (Philippines), Inc.

Anuj Aggarwal, President and CEO of Canon Marketing (Philippines), Inc., reinforced the company’s commitment to AFPSLAI’s digital transformation journey. “Canon is proud to be AFPSLAI’s trusted partner in digital transformation, providing secure, scalable solutions for sustainable growth,” he said.

AFPSLAI’s Milestone in Loan Services

For AFPSLAI, the project signifies a leap forward in its loan services. By digitizing and automating loan records, the organization aims to cut down processing times and deliver more reliable services to members. RADM Nichols A. Driz, PN (Ret), President and CEO of AFPSLAI, shared: “This milestone allows us to serve our members with loan services that are faster, more secure, and more efficient.”

The organization expects that the new system will directly benefit its members through quicker loan approvals, improved service reliability, and stronger data protection.

A Step Toward Digital Transformation in Finance

The partnership between Canon and AFPSLAI reflects a growing trend in the Philippine financial sector, where institutions are investing in digital transformation to strengthen operational efficiency and compliance. With approximately 15 million pages set for digitization in Phase 2, the scale of the project underscores the seriousness of AFPSLAI’s commitment to digital innovation.

Through Canon’s expertise and AFPSLAI’s dedication to member-focused service, the Records Digitization Project moves beyond storage and retrieval. It positions AFPSLAI to adapt to the fast-changing financial services landscape, aligning technology with its mission to deliver secure and efficient financial solutions to its members.
