HONOR Philippines’ has officially announced the arrival of the much-awaited HONOR 90 5G equipped with a 200MP flagship camera on August 15. The new HONOR 90 5G is also equipped with a 6.7-inch AMOLED quad curved floating display with industry-leading Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) Dimming technology that is TÜV Rheinland Flicker-free certified for a more comfortable, flicker-free viewing experience and less strain on the eyes.

We’re fortunate enough to get our hands on an early unit of the new HONOR 90 5G in Emerald Green color variant and here is our unboxing and initial impressions of yet again, another amazing smartphone from HONOR.

Unboxing/Accessories

The HONOR 90 5G arrived with the familiar white box with model name printed in metallic silver. Inside the box, you will find the HONOR 90 5G handset, 66-watt HONOR SuperCharge charger, USB Type-A to USB Type-C data/charging cable, TPU Protective case for protection, paper documentation, and the SIM ejector tool.

It’s really nice to see that HONOR was able to include a USB-C to 3.5 mm headphone jack adapter that lets you connect devices that use a standard 3.5 mm audio plug.

Build Quality/Design

The HONOR 90 5G is made from glass and polycarbonate materials, giving it a more premium look and feel to it. The device has a sleek and modern design that is sure to catch eyes. Its small profile and light weight make it comfortable to hold and easy to carry.

Additionally, another notable feature of the Honor 90 5G is that it supports electronic SIM technology.

While the volume rocker and the power button are on the right side.

The bottom part of the phone has a SIM tray, microphone, USB Type-C port and speaker grille.

In front, the HONOR 90 5G comes with a 6.7-inch AMOLED quad curved floating display with 120Hz Refresh Rate, 2664 x 1200 resolution at 435 ppi, and an industry-leading Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) Dimming technology which is said to reduce eye strain in low brightness.

While at the back, the HONOR 90 5G features a triple-camera setup at the back including a 200MP f/1.9 Ultra-Clear Camera, 12MP f/2.2 Ultra Wide with Macro Camera, and a 2MP f/2.4 Depth Camera.

In terms of color options, the new HONOR 90 5G smartphone is available in Diamond Silver, Emerald Green, Peacock Blue, Midnight Black color variants. The one we got was the Emerald Green colorway that is an absolute stunner and easily stands out in a sea of more common color choices.

If you want to listen to music, the HONOR 90 5G has a Type-C USB port on the bottom but no 3.5 mm socket; thankfully, HONOR includes a USB-C to 3.5 mm headphone jack adapter, which allows you to connect devices that use a conventional 3.5 mm audio plug.

The HONOR 90 5G has a sleek and stylish design that is sure to turn heads. It also feels nice in your hand, and the buttons are easy to reach even when using just one hand. It is also pretty slim, fitting in my pocket without adding too much bulk to my skinny jeans.

Camera

Now let’s talk about the cameras. The Honor 90 5G, has a triple-camera system comprising a 200-megapixel Main Camera, a 12-megapixel Ultra Wide and Macro Camera, and a 2-megapixel Depth Camera at the back of the device with a 1/1.4-inch sensor. As a result, the back camera is excellent for shooting, regardless of the subject. The cameras are arranged in an elegant and harmonious “Mirror Luna” design featuring overlapping circles and ellipses, inspired by the dynamic beauty of moon phases.

When you open the camera app, six shooting options are available: aperture, night, portrait, photo, video, multi-video. likewise, you can also select more to access the pro, slow-mo, panorama, HDR photo, HDR video, time-lapse, stickers, super macro, high-res, solo cut, story, and scan document camera modes. The HONOR 90 5G’s camera app scores extra points for having an autofocus and face detection feature that ensures the images are sharp.

The front camera has a 50MP wide selfie camera.

The HONOR 90 5G features a 50MP wide selfie camera with an aperture of f/2.4 and a 100° field of angle. It produces a decent amount of detail and high contrast in daylight scenarios. In low light, the camera pulled out decent colors. Saturation is acceptable, though image noise is more visible.
