HONOR has officially launched the HONOR X6e in the Philippines, bringing a large 7,500mAh battery, 120Hz display, 50MP AI Ultra-clear Camera, and reinforced durability to its smartphone lineup. Designed with everyday users in mind, the HONOR X6e focuses on providing dependable performance and long-lasting battery life for students, entry-level workers, riders, delivery workers, teachers, small business owners, parents, and those looking for a secondary phone.

We’re fortunate enough to have our hands on the new HONOR X6e in the Sunrise Gold color variant, equipped with 4GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The device is also available in Midnight Black. In this hands-on review, we walk you through everything from unboxing to real-world performance, gaming, battery life, camera performance, and everyday usability.

After spending time with the HONOR X6e, we found that it focuses more on practicality than trying to pack in every possible feature. Its large battery, durable construction, generous storage, and capable everyday performance make it an interesting option for users who want a dependable smartphone that can keep up with their daily routine.

Unboxing / Accessories

The HONOR X6e comes in a clean and straightforward package that reflects the phone’s practical approach. The box itself keeps things simple and focuses on giving users what they need to start using the device right away.

Opening the box reveals the HONOR X6e neatly wrapped in protective plastic. Beneath the device, users will find all the essentials for a smooth setup, including a 45W HONOR SuperCharge charging brick, a USB-A to USB-C cable, a SIM ejector tool, a transparent case, and documentation that walks users through the basics of the phone.

HONOR also includes a free TPU protective case, which is a practical addition for protecting the phone from everyday scratches and minor bumps. Having a case included right out of the box is especially useful for users who want to protect their device as soon as they start using it. For many users, particularly students upgrading their phones, this is a welcome addition that adds value to the overall package.

Overall, the unboxing experience stays simple and functional, which fits the HONOR X6e’s practical approach. With the charger, cable, protective case, and other essentials included, users can start using the HONOR X6e right away.

Design, Build Quality, and Durability

The HONOR X6e comes in two color options: Midnight Black and Sunrise Gold, which is the variant we received. Between the two, we personally prefer the Sunrise Gold. It has a clean, modern look without being too flashy, while the finish gives the phone a little more personality.

The HONOR X6e measures 163.9 x 75.9 x 8.29mm and weighs around 204 grams, including the battery. At 8.29mm thick, it maintains a reasonably slim profile despite packing a large 7,500mAh battery. The phone uses a flat design across the front, back, and sides, with rounded corners that make it comfortable to hold.

The back panel is made from polycarbonate and has a matte-style finish. On our Sunrise Gold unit, the surface has a warm white-gold appearance with a subtle shimmer when light catches it as the phone moves. We also like that the finish does a good job of hiding fingerprints.

The slightly raised camera module sits on the upper-left corner, housing the circular camera rings and LED flash, while the HONOR logo is placed toward the lower-left portion of the rear panel. On the sides, the volume rocker and power button are on the right, with the latter also serving as the fingerprint scanner. The SIM card tray is on the left, while the USB-C port and microphone are on the bottom. The speaker grille, 3.5mm headphone jack, and secondary microphone are located on the top.

Up front, the display uses aluminosilicate glass, with relatively slim bezels on the top and sides and a thicker chin at the bottom. The punch-hole camera also gives the front a more modern look.

The HONOR X6e also puts a strong focus on durability. It carries a 5-Star SGS Premium Performance Certification for Drop and Crush Resistance, with HONOR stating that it can withstand a drop from up to 1.8 meters onto a smooth marble floor under controlled laboratory conditions.

It also has an IP64 rating for splash, water, and dust resistance. HONOR notes that the phone is splash-proof, water-resistant, and dust-proof under normal use, although its protective performance may decrease over time with regular wear and tear.

We think having these protections is always a good thing, particularly for a phone that is meant to be used throughout the day. However, they should be seen as added protection rather than an excuse to intentionally put the phone through extreme conditions. HONOR itself notes that there is still a risk of damage if the phone is dropped or experiences an impact.

Overall, the HONOR X6e looks more expensive than its price suggests. While the polycarbonate construction means it does not feel particularly premium in the hand, the clean design, Sunrise Gold finish, comfortable shape, and added durability features make it a practical phone for everyday use.

Display

The HONOR X6e sports a 6.61-inch TFT LCD display with an HD+ resolution of 1604 × 720 pixels. The screen supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, which is one of the features we appreciated during everyday use. Scrolling through social media, browsing websites, switching between menus, and navigating the phone generally feels smooth.

For users who want to conserve battery, the refresh rate can also be switched to Standard mode at 60Hz. This gives users the flexibility to prioritize smoother scrolling when they want it or battery efficiency when they need it.

The display supports 16.7 million colors, and we found the overall viewing experience pleasant for everyday use. While it does not have the deeper contrast and more vibrant look associated with an AMOLED panel, the colors are still good enough for browsing the web, watching videos, reading messages, and scrolling through social media. The 120Hz refresh rate also helps make these everyday interactions feel smoother.

Brightness can reach up to 1,010 nits in certain scenarios. We found this more than adequate for indoor use, although the display can become more difficult to see under direct sunlight outdoors. This is something to keep in mind for users who frequently use their phones outside, particularly riders and delivery workers.

HONOR also includes its Eye Comfort Display technology, with features such as Eye Comfort Mode, E-Book Mode, Dark Mode, and Dynamic Dimming. These options give users more ways to adjust the display depending on how and where they use the phone, which is particularly useful for those who spend long periods looking at their screens.

Overall, the HONOR X6e’s display is more focused on providing a smooth and comfortable everyday viewing experience rather than competing on resolution or panel technology. The HD+ resolution is a compromise, but the 120Hz refresh rate, Eye Comfort features, and decent color output make the screen perfectly usable for everyday tasks.

Performance

The HONOR X6e is powered by the MediaTek Helio G81 Ultra, an octa-core processor built on a 12nm process and paired with an ARM Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. Our review unit comes with 4GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, while HONOR RAM Turbo can use some of the phone’s storage to provide the equivalent of up to 8GB of RAM.

For everyday use, the HONOR X6e is capable enough for the tasks most users are likely to throw at it. We used the phone for browsing, social media, communication, and entertainment, and it handled these activities without major issues. Apps generally opened as expected, while the 120Hz display helped make scrolling and navigating through the interface feel smoother.

The 4GB of physical RAM does become more noticeable when the phone is pushed harder. Heavy multitasking can result in some slowdowns, particularly when switching between several demanding applications. HONOR RAM Turbo can provide additional virtual RAM, although the actual experience can vary depending on the apps being used, network environment, and individual usage habits.

For students, this level of performance is suitable for everyday school-related tasks such as attending online classes, researching topics, browsing websites, communicating with classmates, and using everyday applications. The same practicality can benefit entry-level workers, teachers, riders, and small business owners who primarily need their phones for communication, browsing, social media, and other everyday tasks.

Overall, the HONOR X6e is designed around dependable everyday performance rather than high-end power. For users whose smartphone needs revolve around everyday applications, communication, entertainment, and school or work tasks, we found its performance capable enough for the job.

Gaming Performance

We tested the HONOR X6e with Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Call of Duty: Mobile, using the default settings for both games.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang ran smoothly during our testing, with no major hitching or heavy frame drops that affected our gameplay. The 120Hz display also helped make movement around the map and navigating through the game feel fluid.

Call of Duty: Mobile is more demanding, but we were still able to play it smoothly and found the experience manageable using its default settings. While the HONOR X6e is not positioned as a gaming-focused smartphone at this price point, we were pleased with how it handled the games we tested.

For casual gamers, the phone is capable of handling a few matches without making the experience frustrating. The large 7,500mAh battery also means users can spend more time playing without constantly worrying about reaching for the charger.

At the same time, expectations should remain realistic. The HONOR X6e is not a gaming-focused smartphone, so users looking for maximum graphics settings or the highest possible gaming performance may want to consider other options. For casual gaming and everyday entertainment, however, we found its performance more than manageable.

Benchmark Results

To better understand how the HONOR X6e performs, we ran several benchmark tests. These tests help measure how well the phone handles different types of workloads, from everyday productivity and CPU performance to overall system performance and graphics stability.

In everyday use, the HONOR X6e performs smoothly for basic tasks such as browsing, social media, communication, and entertainment. Our benchmark results give us a more detailed look at how the phone performs under specific testing conditions.

In Geekbench 6, the HONOR X6e scored 398 in the single-core test and 1,348 in the multi-core test. These tests measure the phone’s CPU performance when handling different workloads, giving an indication of how the processor handles tasks that rely on individual or multiple CPU cores.

For productivity tasks, the phone scored 8,511 in PCMark Work 3.1 Performance. This benchmark uses workloads based on everyday activities, giving a closer look at how the phone handles typical tasks rather than focusing only on raw processing power.

In AnTuTu Benchmark, the HONOR X6e recorded a score of 331,764. The test provides an overall look at different areas of the phone’s performance, making it useful for getting a broader picture of the device’s capabilities.

For graphics stability, the 3DMark Wild Life Stress Test recorded a best loop score of 637 and a lowest loop score of 630, resulting in a 98.9% stability rating. The relatively small difference between the best and lowest loop scores shows that the phone maintained consistent performance throughout the test.

Overall, these results suggest that the HONOR X6e delivers capable performance for everyday tasks and casual gaming, which matches our experience using the phone. It is not positioned as a high-performance gaming smartphone, but the combination of its benchmark results and real-world performance shows that it can handle the everyday workloads it is designed for.

Battery

The HONOR X6e’s biggest highlight is its massive 7,500mAh battery, with HONOR claiming up to two days of use between charges. This is one of the phone’s strongest features for users who spend long hours away from a power outlet.

The phone supports 45W HONOR SuperCharge through USB-C. Using the bundled 45W HONOR SuperCharge adapter and USB-C cable, a 30-minute charge gave us around 25% battery, while it took approximately 2 hours and 12 minutes to charge from 0% to 100%.

PCMark Work 3.0 battery life

In our battery endurance testing, the HONOR X6e recorded 22 hours and 53 minutes in the PCMark Work 3.1 Battery Life test. Actual battery life will vary depending on how the phone is used, but the result gives us a good indication of the phone’s endurance.

For us, the 7,500mAh battery is one of the HONOR X6e’s biggest advantages. Being able to use the phone for extended periods without constantly worrying about charging makes it particularly practical for users who rely heavily on their smartphones throughout the day.

Camera

The HONOR X6e comes with a 50MP AI Ultra-clear Camera as its main rear camera, featuring an f/1.8 aperture. It is accompanied by an auxiliary sensor and an LED flash. The camera is designed for everyday photography, and during our testing, we found it capable of taking decent photos in different lighting conditions.

We took several photos outdoors and in low-light conditions during our testing, and the HONOR X6e was able to capture decent shots that are good enough for sharing on social media. While the results are not particularly vibrant or sharp, the photos still retain enough detail to document everyday moments and share them online.

In bright outdoor conditions, the 50MP main camera produces photos with reasonable detail and generally accurate colors. Portrait Mode also does a decent job of separating the subject from the background, with reasonable edge detection and a fair amount of bokeh.

Low-light photography is where the limitations become more noticeable. Photos can appear softer and some noise is visible, although using Night Mode can help improve exposure in darker scenes. Even so, we were still able to get decent results in low-light situations.

The camera app itself is simple and easy to navigate. Users can switch between 1x and 2x focal lengths, while digital zoom goes up to 10x. Additional camera controls can be accessed by tapping the upward arrow or swiping upward from the camera interface, bringing up options such as flash, aspect ratio, filters, timer, and gridlines.

For video recording, the rear camera can record at up to 1080p or 720p at 30fps. The available recording options are enough for basic video clips and everyday content.

While the image quality may not match what users would get from more premium smartphones, that is also understandable given the HONOR X6e’s price range. What matters is that the 50MP camera is capable of producing decent photos for everyday use and social media, which is what most users in this segment are likely to need.

Overall, the HONOR X6e’s camera is practical rather than exceptional. It performs best in good lighting, but it can still capture decent photos outdoors and in low-light situations. For users who mainly want to take everyday photos and share them on social media, the camera gets the job done.

Verdict

After spending time with the HONOR X6e, we found that its biggest strengths are its 7,500mAh battery, durable build, 256GB storage, and dependable everyday performance. It is not designed to be a high-performance gaming phone or a premium camera phone, but instead focuses on giving users the essentials they need for everyday use.

The large battery is easily one of its biggest advantages. Combined with its durable build and capable performance, the HONOR X6e makes sense for students, entry-level workers, riders, delivery workers, teachers, small business owners, parents, and anyone who spends a lot of time using their smartphone throughout the day.

We were also able to play Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Call of Duty: Mobile using their default settings, with both games remaining smooth and manageable during our testing. The 50MP camera is also capable of taking decent photos for everyday use and social media, although users should keep their expectations realistic given the phone’s price range.

At PHP 15,999, the HONOR X6e is best suited for users who prioritize battery life, durability, storage, and reliable everyday use over high-end performance. If those are the things that matter most, the HONOR X6e is a practical option worth considering.
