Pokémon UNITE will end service on March 23, 2027, ending nearly six years of online gameplay on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices. Aeos Gem sales and new UNITE Club memberships have already been suspended, while a special event and a new Library feature will give players more ways to enjoy and revisit the game before and after the shutdown.
The Pokémon Company has announced that Pokémon UNITE, its free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game, will officially end service on Tuesday, March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC. The shutdown will affect both the Nintendo Switch and mobile versions, ending regular online gameplay for players across the supported platforms.
First released for Nintendo Switch on July 21, 2021, Pokémon UNITE introduced team-based Pokémon battles in a competitive format built around five-versus-five matches. The game later expanded to mobile devices, allowing players to experience its battles beyond Nintendo’s console.
Although the shutdown is still several months away, changes to the game’s purchasing system took effect on October 27, 2026. Sales of Aeos Gems, the game’s premium currency, have been suspended, alongside new UNITE Club membership purchases and automatic membership renewals. Players can continue using their existing Aeos Gems until service ends, while current UNITE Club members retain their benefits until their existing membership periods expire.
The Pokémon Company has also confirmed that a special event and update will begin on November 12, 2026. The update will introduce opportunities to obtain previously released items and add a Library feature that will preserve access to selected in-game content and records after the shutdown. Meanwhile, the Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo competitive tournament will proceed as previously announced, with qualifier tournaments starting on December 5, 2026.
What Is Pokémon UNITE?
Pokémon UNITE is a free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena game developed by TiMi Studio Group. Unlike the franchise’s traditional role-playing games, it focuses on competitive team battles in which two teams of five players face off against each other.

Players select Pokémon and work together to defeat wild Pokémon, collect Aeos energy, and score points in opposing teams’ goal zones. Team coordination and the effective use of each Pokémon’s abilities are central to the gameplay.
The Nintendo Switch version launched on July 21, 2021, followed by the mobile version in September 2021. The game brought familiar Pokémon characters into a competitive multiplayer format, offering a different way for players to experience the franchise.
With the official shutdown date now confirmed, Pokémon UNITE is approaching the end of its service after nearly six years. However, players still have time to participate in the remaining in-game activities and prepare for the changes that will take effect when the servers close.

Pokémon UNITE Shutdown Date and Changes to In-Game Purchases
According to the official announcement, Pokémon UNITE will end service on March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC. This corresponds to 8:00 AM Philippine time on the same date.
After service ends, players will no longer be able to log in to the game or participate in battles. The shutdown applies to both the Nintendo Switch and mobile versions.
The first major changes began on October 27, 2026, at 05:00 UTC, when the game suspended Aeos Gem sales. The same date also marked the suspension of new UNITE Club membership purchases and automatic membership renewals.
Players who already have Aeos Gems can continue spending their remaining balance until the shutdown. However, unused Aeos Gems will no longer be usable after service ends.

Existing UNITE Club members can continue accessing their membership benefits and services until the end of their current membership periods. New memberships are no longer being accepted, and automatic renewals have been suspended.
These changes give existing players a limited period to use their remaining premium currency and membership benefits before Pokémon UNITE closes its online services.
Special Event, Grand Shop Sale, and Library Feature
Although Pokémon UNITE is approaching its final months, the game will continue receiving activities and content leading up to the shutdown.
A special event and update will begin on November 12, 2026, introducing ways to obtain various items that have appeared in the game previously, including Unite licenses and Holowear. The update will also introduce the Unite Coin Exchange, Unite Coin Missions, a Unite Coin login bonus, and the Library feature.
The Grand Shop Sale began earlier, on October 27, 2026, and will continue until service ends. The sale offers discounts of up to 80%, with the shop’s available items also being updated to bring back previously released content. These returning items include some Holowear and Trainer fashion items that were exclusive to past events and battle passes.
Items made available through the shop will also be obtainable through the Unite Coin Exchange, where players can exchange special Unite Coins for eligible content. Unite Coins can be earned through the login bonus and special missions introduced with the November update.
The special event and sale give players additional opportunities to obtain previously released items during the remaining months of service.

What Is the Pokémon UNITE Library Feature?
The Library feature will allow players to revisit selected records and in-game content after Pokémon UNITE ends service. It is scheduled to become available with the November 12, 2026, update.
According to the official announcement, the Library will allow players to access the Practice Area and view items and achievements obtained in the game. Available content will include owned Unite licenses, Holowear, Trainer fashion items, Boost Emblems, Trainer achievements, Pokémon achievements, and tournament participation records.
Players will also be able to change eligible Trainer fashion items, Pokémon, Holowear, and backgrounds on the Library’s home screen. The Practice Area will allow them to view Pokémon moves and Holowear effects, while the Unite Snapshot feature will support customization using owned frames, stickers, fashion items, backgrounds, expressions, and poses.
Battle items, held items, and Boost Emblems will be available for viewing only. The Library will not allow players to continue participating in regular online battles after service ends.
There is also an important requirement for players who want to access the feature after the shutdown. The necessary Library data download must be completed before March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC. Players who have not completed the required download before that deadline will not be able to use the Library afterward.
The required asset data will be downloaded during normal gameplay or when players first access the feature after it becomes available. Any new in-game items or records obtained after the initial data download will be added to the Library automatically.
However, the official announcement warns that Library data generally cannot be transferred when changing devices. If the game or its Library data is deleted or otherwise lost after service ends, recovery may not be possible. Support for the Library feature will also no longer be available after the shutdown.
Players who want to preserve access to their Pokémon UNITE records and selected content should therefore ensure that the required download is completed before the deadline.
Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo Tournament Will Proceed
Despite the upcoming shutdown, the Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo competitive tournament will still take place as previously announced.
The official end-of-service notice confirms that qualifier tournaments will begin on Saturday, December 5, 2026. The competition will proceed during the months leading up to the game’s scheduled closure.
The tournament gives the game’s competitive calendar a confirmed event before service ends. Players interested in participating can refer to the official tournament announcement for further details about the competition and its schedule.

Pokémon UNITE to End Service After Nearly Six Years
The shutdown of Pokémon UNITE will bring its online gameplay to an end on March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC, or 8:00 AM Philippine time. Both the Nintendo Switch and mobile versions will be affected, and players will no longer be able to log in or participate in battles after the deadline.
Until then, players can use their remaining Aeos Gems, continue accessing existing UNITE Club benefits until their membership periods expire, and take part in the special event and Grand Shop Sale. The November 12 update will introduce the Unite Coin Exchange, missions, a login bonus, and the Library feature, while tournament qualifiers are scheduled to begin on December 5.
For players who want to revisit selected achievements, items, and other in-game records after the shutdown, completing the required Library data download before the end-of-service deadline will be essential.
The Pokémon Company has thanked the Trainers who have played since the Nintendo Switch version launched in July 2021 and encouraged them to continue enjoying Pokémon UNITE until its final day of service.
