Quaker Fit Breakfast Club 2026 Gives Filipino Favorites a Fiber-Rich Oat Upgrade

8 Min Read

Paella, sarciado, caldo, and mango float received a fiber upgrade as Quaker brought its oat expertise to the Filipino breakfast table through the Quaker Fit Breakfast Club 2026. Held on September 22, 2026, at The Studio Kitchen at Enderun Coworking Estancia in Pasig City, Philippines, the hands-on media cook-along brought the brand’s “Quaker Salu-Salo” theme to life by inviting Philippine media to recreate beloved Filipino breakfast and holiday favorites with oats at the center.

After more than three decades in Filipino homes, Quaker used the event to demonstrate how adding oats to familiar dishes can help boost fiber intake, support healthier eating habits, and make nutritious meals more enjoyable for the whole family. A serving of oats already provides 3.5g fiber. Through cooking demonstrations and hands-on preparation, the Quaker Fit Breakfast Club 2026 showed how oats can become part of familiar meals while maintaining the flavors Filipinos already enjoy.

Closing the Fiber Gap, One Bowl at a Time

The Quaker Fit Breakfast Club 2026 builds on the inaugural Quaker Fit Breakfast Club and puts the spotlight on a nutrient that many households do not regularly track. According to a study of Filipino working adults published in the Philippine Journal of Nutrition, the Philippine Dietary Reference Intakes set a daily fiber target of 20–25g, yet the average Filipino gets only 6–8g. While many families already think about getting enough protein at breakfast, fiber is often forgotten.

Oats offer a simple way to add both protein and fiber to a breakfast meal, helping Filipinos move closer to their daily fiber needs while continuing to enjoy familiar foods. Oats also contain beta-glucan, a soluble fiber that helps one feel full longer and manage weight, as well as support digestion and heart health. These nutritional qualities formed an important part of the conversation at Quaker Salu-Salo, where the brand connected everyday nutrition with familiar Filipino food and family gatherings.

“In Filipino homes, breakfast has always been more than a meal. It’s the moment the family gathers before the day pulls everyone in different directions,” said Macy Monson, Marketing Lead, PepsiCo Inc. Philippines. “Our commitment is to make good nutrition something every family can reach for every day, not a special effort. And as the holidays come around, we want families to know they can celebrate with the dishes they love, without the guilt, and with a little more goodness in every bowl.”

Filipino Favorites, Rebuilt on Oats

Nutritionist Jo Sebastian opened the program by unpacking fiber as “the nutrient nobody counts,” before Chef Nat Sundiang led a masterclass on oat-based Filipino comfort food. Guests watched Chicken and Mushroom Oats Caldo come together in minutes, with quick oats delivering a creamy porridge in less time. The dish demonstrated how oats can be incorporated into a familiar Filipino comfort food while providing another way to include fiber in a meal.

The chef then presented an Oat-Infused Breakfast Paella as the festive centerpiece. The dish featured chicken, chorizo, bell peppers, boiled eggs, and sweet peas on a savory turmeric-and-pimentón oat base in place of traditional sticky rice. The preparation gave a familiar festive favorite an oat-based approach while keeping the dish centered on flavors and ingredients associated with Filipino celebrations.

For dessert, an Oat Mango Float showed how milky oats can stand in for cream while keeping the creaminess of the dish. Layered with graham crackers and mangoes, the cold, no-bake treat offered another example of how oats can move beyond the traditional breakfast bowl and become part of familiar Filipino desserts.

Media guests then took to their own stations to cook Oats Sarciado, a high-protein take on the classic Filipino breakfast pairing of eggs, tomatoes, and fish. Made with fluffy oats and egg, then topped with tomato sauce and fried fish, the dish demonstrated how an everyday Filipino breakfast can incorporate oats while retaining its familiar components.

The hands-on Sarciado activity was also one of the most enjoyable parts of the experience for a media guest who does not know how to cook. Despite having little cooking experience, the preparation of the Sarciadong Bangus proved easy to follow and straightforward to make. The activity showed how the right guidance and a familiar Filipino recipe can make cooking feel more approachable, even for someone who does not regularly prepare meals in the kitchen.

“Closing the fiber gap doesn’t mean overhauling how you eat. It starts with small swaps, like a bowl of oats in the morning or a handful stirred into the dishes you already cook,” said Jo Sebastian, registered nutritionist-dietitian and content creator. “When fiber shows up in familiar food, it becomes a habit instead of a chore.”

The cooking demonstrations also highlighted the versatility of oats across different types of Filipino dishes. From a creamy caldo and savory breakfast paella to a cold mango float and a traditional egg, tomato, and fish pairing, the recipes showed how oats can work with a range of familiar ingredients and flavors.

“Oats are one of the most forgiving ingredients in the kitchen. They take on broth, pimentón, tomato sauce, even mango, whatever you give them,” said Chef Nat Sundiang, recipe developer, food stylist, and Head Chef of Turo Filipino Kitchen. “The goal was never to hide the oats. It was to let them carry the flavors Filipinos already love, with a modern spin that still tastes like home.”

After closing remarks from Aditya Ahuja, General Manager, PH/MY Asia Foods, PepsiCo Inc., guests gathered at a long communal table for a family-style salu-salo. The shared meal brought together the dishes prepared during the morning, providing a fitting close to a cook-along centered on Filipino food, family, and nutrition.
