Nokia C20 01

The Nokia C20 was officially announced by HMD Global last April 2021 as their latest budget smartphone under the C-series model. I finally got my hands on the new Nokia C20. I’ve now spent more than a week using this device. So here are my impressions of Nokia’s newest budget smartphone.

The Nokia C20 comes in a rectangular box with a pull-out design with the brand’s logo and smartphone model printed on the top portion of the box. Inside the box contains the Nokia C20, Headset, Clear Case, Screen Protector, Micro-USB cable, 5V/1A charger, and some paperwork.

Design And Display

The Nokia C20 features the brand’s signature Nordic design. It comes in two colorways: dark blue and sand. The device is made from polycarbonate material that is durable to hold. It also has a removable unibody back cover with a micro-texture finish.

The top part of the phone has a 3.5mm headphone jack while the bottom is where the microphone and micro USB connector is located. While on the left side holds the Power/Lock key and Volume control buttons.

On the front, it has a familiar waterdrop notch design with a single-camera setup 5-megapixel camera, and LED flash. The display of the Nokia C20 comes with a 6.5-inch display with 720 x 1600 HD+ resolution.

The Nokia C20 is powered by UniSoC SC9863A CPU clocked at 1.6GHz, along with PowerVR GE8322 GPU, 1/2GB RAM, and 16/32GB expandable storage.

The Nokia C20 doesn’t have a fingerprint sensor however it comes with facial recognition capabilities, thereby allowing users to unlock their phone with a biometric scan. It also has additional security features such as a screen lock (Swipe, Pattern, PIN, or Password).

The Nokia C20 is equipped with a decent 3,000 mAh removable battery, which should last you a full day of moderate to heavy usage.

Another good thing about the Nokia C20 is that its back cover is removable, which means you’ll be able to remove the battery and replace it quickly if needed. This is surprising since nowadays you’ll probably have a hard time looking for phones with removable batteries on your own. Charging the device from 0% to 100% will take you almost 3 hours for a full charge.

Nokia C20 - Camera
The Nokia C20 has a single-camera setup with a 5-megapixel main and selfie camera on the device, with a single LED flash on both sides.

The Nokia C20 offers a single-camera setup with a 5-megapixel main and selfie camera on the device, with a single LED flash on both sides. It also has 4 shooting modes available: Panorama, Photo, Video, and Time Lapse. Other features come preloaded with HDR support and artificial intelligence (AI)-backed beautification features.

For videos, both rear and front camera supports FHD 1080p and HD 720p resolution. Both cameras are equipped with an LED flash which you can use in case you are shooting in a darker place.

The Nokia C20 features a 6.5-inch IPS LCD that is decent enough for streaming Netflix movies. I also like the idea that you can easily remove the back cover and replace the battery. This is a good candidate if you are also in the market for an emergency phone where you can keep a spare battery in your bag.
