Inside the box, you’ll find the TECNO POVA 6 Pro 5G handset with a pre-installed screen protector, a 70W power adapter, a USB-A to USB-C charging/data cable, a transparent protective case, a SIM ejector tool, Farlight 84 stickers, a warranty card with other paperworks, and 3.5mm headphone jack earphones with a microphone.
Build Quality/Design
The TECNO POVA 6 Pro 5G breaks the mold in the mid-range market, offering a design that’s both stylish and built to last. Despite packing a massive 6,000mAh battery, the phone maintains a remarkably thin profile of 7.88mm, making it comfortable to hold for extended use.
On the back, TECNO ditches the typical glass or plastic for a unique aesthetic inspired by intricate motherboard circuitry. This design element, achieved through advanced photolithography techniques, creates a textured surface that adds personality. While the resemblance to actual motherboards might be subtle, it undeniably separates the Pova 6 Pro 5G from generic phone designs.
Taking the motherboard theme further, the Pova 6 Pro 5G boasts a futuristic twist with a Dynamic-Light Effect with MiniLED. This feature utilizes 210 individually controlled micro-LEDs embedded directly in the back panel, creating mesmerizing circular and propeller-like light effects. You can even personalize these effects for calls, messages, and more – up to 9 scenes!
But the TECNO POVA 6 Pro 5G isn’t just about looks. It’s also built for everyday use. With an IP53 certification for water and dust resistance, the phone can survive accidental water splashes, rain, and dust, making it a great choice for on-the-go users. This style, functionality, and durability combination makes the TECNO POVA 6 Pro 5G a breath of fresh air in the mid-range smartphone market.
Camera
The Tecno Pova 6 Pro 5G might be a gaming phone at heart, but its camera system packs a surprising punch for the price. The 108-megapixel main sensor steals the show, capturing exceptional detail in bright conditions. This is a significant advantage, considering the phone’s budget-friendly price tag. However, there’s no ultra-wide lens to be found. Instead, you get two additional 2-megapixel sensors with limited functionality.
Daylight photography is where the 108MP sensor shines. Photos come out sharp with good color reproduction. Tecno’s software processing can occasionally lead to a slight softness in some areas, but it’s a minor nitpick. As expected from a mid-range phone, low-light performance is a challenge. Photos can get noisy and lack detail. Tecno’s night mode helps to some extent, but it can’t match the capabilities of high-end phones.

The 32MP front camera holds its own in good lighting, capturing decent selfies with accurate colors and details. However, like the rear camera, low-light situations expose its limitations, resulting in grainy or blurry photos.
The camera app has some exciting AI features, like Sky Shop. This lets you transform your photos by replacing the sky. I tried it out, and it looks very promising! While I haven’t done a deep dive yet, I can see room for some improvements that could make it even better. Perhaps in future updates, we might see an even wider variety of sky options, finer control over the edits, and even better object recognition for seamless results.
Overall, the Tecno Pova 6 Pro 5G offers a capable camera system for its price range. The 108MP main sensor delivers impressive detail in bright light, and the 32MP selfie camera is decent. However, the lack of an ultra-wide lens and underwhelming low-light performance are drawbacks to consider. If you’re a casual photographer on a budget, the Pova 6 Pro 5G is a solid choice. But if capturing great photos in low-light is a priority, you might want to explore other options.
Performance
Gamers understand that a smooth and responsive display is essential for split-second reactions and precise control. The Pova 6 Pro 5G delivers in this regard with its stunning 120Hz AMOLED display. This translates to a significant advantage in fast-paced games where every frame counts. Whether you’re dominating the battlefield or exploring vast open worlds, the visuals are buttery smooth and vibrant, ensuring you don’t miss a single detail.
TECNO’s partnership with the popular battle royale game Farlight 84 further underscores the Pova 6 Pro 5G’s gaming ambitions. The phone is specifically optimized for this title, guaranteeing smooth performance and a lag-free experience. Benchmarks provide valuable insights, but real-world performance is key. During our testing, the Pova 6 Pro 5G tackled popular mobile titles like Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Call of Duty: Mobile with impressive fluidity.
However, it’s important to note that while the gameplay remained smooth, Call of Duty: Mobile’s maximum graphics option is only up to medium on the Pova 6 Pro 5G. This is to be expected at the phone’s price point.
The phone’s capabilities extend beyond gaming. While the 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 6080 octa-core processor isn’t the latest, it offers excellent performance for its expected price point. This translates to smooth performance in everyday use. Browsing, social media scrolling, and multitasking are handled admirably. We put the phone through its paces with demanding games like Call of Duty: Mobile and Farlight 84, and experienced no frame drops or stuttering. In fact, we had a great time playing these games!
This well-rounded performance makes the Pova 6 Pro 5G a great choice for gamers who prioritize smooth gameplay over maxed-out graphics, and everyday users alike.
Battery
The Tecno Pova 6 Pro 5G boasts a massive 6,000mAh battery, which is one of the biggest you can get on a smartphone today. This translates to long gaming sessions, endless video streaming, or worry-free daily use. Tecno claims this powerhouse can deliver up to 14 hours of video streaming or a staggering 11 hours of continuous gaming, perfect for gamers on the go. Even moderate users can expect a whopping 2-3 days of use on a single charge.
But what happens if the battery level gets low while you’re playing a game? Fear not! The phone supports blazing-fast 70W charging. Tecno claims it can reach 50% battery level in just 19 minutes, ideal for quick top-ups before heading out. The phone even includes bypass charging to keep the phone cool during intense gaming sessions while maintaining rapid charging.
Another bonus feature is 10W reverse charging, which allows you to use the phone as a power bank to share your juice with friends in need. Overall, the Tecno Pova 6 Pro 5G’s battery is a major selling point, making it a perfect choice for gamers and anyone who demands long-lasting power from their phone.
Verdict
The Tecno Pova 6 Pro 5G emerges as a champion for budget-conscious gamers. It packs a punch with smooth gaming performance, a gorgeous AMOLED display, and incredible battery life that lasts, all for a very reasonable price. The phone boasts a unique back design inspired by circuit boards with its dynamic-light back, although its functionality is still under development. Overall performance is solid, tackling everyday tasks and most games with ease. You can game for extended periods without worry thanks to the long-lasting battery. While the software may come with some unnecessary pre-installed apps, the phone’s strengths clearly outweigh this minor drawback.
In fact, I thoroughly enjoyed using the Pova 6 Pro for the past two weeks. It became my go-to device for playing Farlight 84, a game I never would have tried otherwise. This brand collaboration proved to be a perfect way to test the phone’s gaming capabilities, and the Pova 6 Pro handled it flawlessly.
In essence, the Tecno Pova 6 Pro 5G is ideal for gamers on a budget, users who prioritize long battery life, and those who appreciate a phone with a tech-forward aesthetic.
