SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation (SMHCC) has officially appointed Rouel P. Guanzon as the new General Manager of Park Inn by Radisson Iloilo. A seasoned professional with a distinguished background in hotel management and strategic leadership, Guanzon brings to the role a wealth of experience and a proven record of success in steering hospitality brands toward operational excellence and market growth.

Rouel Guanzon is a highly accomplished and results-driven Hotel Management Executive known for orchestrating comprehensive management and administrative programs. He has demonstrated exceptional skill in pioneering market analysis and spearheading brand development and sales strategies to meet and exceed business objectives. With a pragmatic mindset and a people-oriented leadership style, he has continuously driven productivity, profitability, and market share gains throughout his distinguished career.

Over the years, Guanzon has held the prestigious position of General Manager for several well-known properties. These include The Farm at San Benito (Medical Spa Resort), Waterfront Insular Hotel, Hotel Kimberly, Solano Hotel, Resort and Residences, and Azumi Boutique Hotel. In each of these roles, he led the overall administration and ground operations of the properties. He ensured that the conduct of business was aligned with brand standardization, emphasized service delivery excellence, and maintained optimal resource allocation and control.

Before stepping into the role of General Manager, Guanzon also held strategic leadership positions such as Director of Sales and Marketing (DOSM) and Director of Operations (DOO). His work in these roles further highlights his depth of experience in hospitality management. He has worked with prestigious entities including The Quail Lodge and Golf Club in California, USA, The Peninsula Manila, New World and Renaissance Hotel (managed by Marriott International), and Lake Island Resort.

During his time in these roles, Guanzon exhibited strategic acumen in developing and implementing sales and revenue management strategies that yielded significant improvements in both sales productivity and staff efficiency. These outcomes were largely achieved through the effective application of sales transformation strategies. His leadership helped position properties at the top of their markets—number one in occupancy and number two in Revenue per Available Room (RevPAR), an impressive feat that underscores his ability to optimize business performance through data-driven and customer-focused approaches.

In addition to his extensive corporate experience, Guanzon has also made substantial contributions to the academic sector. He is a well-regarded college academic and university professor, currently dedicated to shaping the next generation of leaders in hospitality and business. Through his teaching, he imparts not only theoretical knowledge but also practical insights gained from his years in the industry. He covers a broad spectrum of subjects including Hospitality, Tourism, Marketing, Strategic Management, Entrepreneurship, Professional Development, and Business Ethics. He holds a Master’s in Hospitality Management from the prestigious Cornell University in the United States, along with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing Management from De La Salle University in the Philippines.
