AirAsia Philippines Pioneers Inclusive Cabin Crew Recruitment

5 Min Read

AirAsia Philippines is pioneering a new approach in its recruitment process, breaking long-held stereotypes and setting a new standard for inclusive cabin crew hiring. The airline, recognized globally as the World’s Best Low-Cost Carrier, is taking a major step toward reshaping how future cabin crew members are evaluated.

A Game Changing Recruitment Process

From 20 to 29 August 2025, every Wednesday between 10 AM and 12 NN, AirAsia Philippines will open its doors to aspiring cabin crew members through a refreshed and inclusive screening format. Unlike traditional airline recruitment days where candidates are required to dress formally with full make-up, this initiative makes the process more accessible and less intimidating.

Male applicants are now encouraged to attend in a simple white t-shirt, jeans, and casual rubber shoes. Female candidates can opt for a white shirt, denim skirt, and heels. This change eliminates the pressure of investing in expensive attire and places the focus on the qualities that truly matter in cabin crew work.

A Realistic and Service-Oriented Experience

Candidates will no longer walk through a runway-style screening. Instead, they will immerse themselves in a more realistic work environment. The selection process is designed to highlight service and guest-oriented skills, giving aspirants an authentic preview of what life as an AirAsia cabin crew member entails.

Through this approach, applicants will experience the Allstar culture first-hand. This immersive setup allows each participant to understand the values and environment that make AirAsia unique, offering them a taste of cabin crew life even before employment.

Focus on Talent, Attitude, and Skills

AirAsia Philippines Chief Executive Officer Suresh Bangah emphasized the shift in recruitment priorities. “We are reimagining the way we do our recruitment process to focus more on the essentials—talent, attitude and skills needed to become a successful cabin crew. Awarded for the 8th consecutive time as World’s Best Low-Cost Cabin Crew by Skytrax, not only do we live and breathe the standards of safety, we make sure that the work environment is fun and inclusive. By changing the game, we also wish to take part in the purposeful journeys of cabin crew aspirants who are deserving to live the sky high dream.”

This statement reflects the airline’s recognition that the true strengths of a cabin crew member lie in their customer service, professionalism, and ability to ensure safety while fostering a welcoming atmosphere onboard.

Requirements for Aspiring Allstars

All candidates must bring an updated CV or resume along with a recent non-AI-generated photo. They are expected to showcase their confidence and warm smiles throughout the process. Applicants must meet the minimum height requirement that corresponds proportionately with their Body Mass Index (BMI).

AirAsia is also keeping the recruitment open to a wider range of candidates. While college graduates are encouraged to apply, Senior High School graduates are also welcome. Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Filipino is required, and multilingual applicants gain a competitive advantage.

Ongoing Recruitment Opportunities

This event marks the fourth open-day recruitment hosted by AirAsia Philippines this year. Three successful batches of candidates have already been processed, and the airline continues to build a strong pool of potential cabin crew members for upcoming intake requirements in the following year.

The inclusive process not only expands opportunities but also ensures that future cabin crew reflect the diversity and dynamism of the communities AirAsia serves.

How to Apply

Interested applicants can access complete details about the “Allstar Wednesday Castings” through the AirAsia Job Portal. The portal provides guidelines, requirements, and further instructions for those eager to begin their journey with AirAsia Philippines.

By breaking away from traditional practices and promoting inclusivity, AirAsia Philippines is making the path toward a cabin crew career more achievable. The airline continues to redefine standards in the aviation industry by recognizing that skills, attitude, and service-oriented values matter more than appearances.

With this pioneering move, AirAsia Philippines is not only opening doors for more aspiring cabin crew members but also reinforcing its reputation as a forward-thinking airline that values inclusivity, safety, and fun at every level of its operations.
