Apple today announced AirPods Max 2, bringing improved Active Noise Cancellation, elevated sound quality, and intelligent features to its iconic over-ear headphones. Powered by the H2 chip, the new model introduces Adaptive Audio, Conversation Awareness, Voice Isolation, and Live Translation to AirPods Max for the first time.
AirPods Max 2 also expands its capabilities for podcasters, musicians, and content creators through features like studio-quality audio recording and camera remote functionality. The headphones will be available in midnight, starlight, orange, purple, and blue.
“With the incredible performance of H2, AirPods Max are upgraded with up to 1.5x more effective ANC for the ultimate all-day listening experience,” said Eric Treski, Apple’s director of Audio Product Marketing. “The sound quality is remarkably clean, rich, and acoustically detailed — and when combined with capabilities like Personalized Spatial Audio, AirPods Max 2 deliver a profoundly immersive experience.”
Active Noise Cancellation Gets Even Better
AirPods Max 2 delivers improved Active Noise Cancellation powered by the H2 chip and new computational audio algorithms. The updated system provides ANC that is up to 1.5x more effective than the previous generation. This helps reduce more environmental noise, including sounds from airplane engines and commuter trains, allowing users to stay fully immersed in their listening experience.
The headphones also feature a new digital signal processing algorithm optimized for H2 and the microphone array. Transparency mode now sounds more natural, helping users remain aware of their surroundings while still enjoying audio content.

AirPods Max 2 and the Environment
Apple continues to advance its Apple 2030 goal of becoming carbon neutral across its entire footprint by the end of the decade. AirPods Max 2 incorporates environmentally conscious materials, including 100 percent recycled rare earth elements in all magnets and 100 percent recycled polyester in the ear cushions.
The product also uses 100 percent recycled gold plating and tin solder in Apple-designed printed circuit boards. Its packaging is made from 100 percent fiber-based materials and is designed to be easily recyclable.
