GCash Run 2026 Returns to Ayala Avenue, Driving Fitness and Sustainability Through GForest

5 Min Read

Where else can runners hit their fitness goals and become heroes for the environment? GCash Run 2026 returns for another exciting year, welcoming runners of all levels to an impactful event that acts as an eco-movement toward a sustainable future.

Organized as a fun and meaningful run, the event was introduced last year and gathered 12,000 eco-runners at Ayala Avenue. Aside from completing their race distances, participants, together with event sponsors and sustainability partners, helped plant 76,000 trees across 11 hectares in the Negros region. This collective effort demonstrated how large-scale participation in a sustainability-driven fitness event can create measurable environmental impact.

This year, GCash Run is back as registration officially opens for its second edition happening on March 22 at Ayala Avenue. With stronger community engagement and a continued environmental mission, GCash Run 2026 aims to build on the success of its inaugural year.

Run for a cause by signing up via GForest

Each sign-up to the GCash Run contributes to the planting of a grey stilted mangrove tree in Negros Occidental. This initiative is made possible by the South Negros Reforestation Initiative through the long-standing partnership between Silliman University and GCash.

Mangroves play a critical role in environmental protection. They protect coastlines by reducing erosion and storm impact while serving as some of the most effective natural ecosystems for carbon storage. Through this initiative, every registered runner directly supports coastal protection and climate resilience efforts in Negros Occidental.

The initiative, along with GCash Run in general, reflects GCash’s commitment to making sustainable living easier and more accessible for every Filipino. Through GForest, every transaction on the GCash app, from cashing in, sending money, paying bills, buying load, or even taking 20,000 steps a day, earns green energy points. Users can redeem these points to plant virtual trees and contribute to a greener future, making them certified GForest Heroes.

By integrating sustainability into everyday financial transactions and daily movement, GCash and GForest turn routine activities into opportunities for environmental action.

Over 24-million strong

Over 24 million GForest users, or Green Heroes,” have already joined the GCash eco-movement, including participants in the GCash Run. As GCash Run 2026 opens registration via GForest, more individuals are encouraged to take part in this growing sustainability initiative.

Since 2019, GForest and its green heroes have contributed to the planting of 4.2 million trees, reforesting almost 19,000 hectares of land, an area larger than Quezon City. These reforestation efforts have also supported 15,000 farming families, 30% of whom are women. This demonstrates how environmental initiatives can simultaneously promote community development and inclusive growth.

The scale of participation and measurable impact strengthens GCash’s position as a digital platform that supports both financial services and environmental sustainability.
