The realme C53 has a 5000mAh battery and 33W SUPERVOOC Charge capability. Furthermore, it has a 6.74-inch HD+ 90Hz display, up to 12GB RAM utilizing 6GB of Dynamic RAM Expansion (DRE), up to 2TB expandable storage via MicroSD Card, realme’s distinctive Mini Capsule, and much more!
We were fortunate to get our hands on an early unit of the new realme C53 in the Mighty Black color variant, and here is our full review of yet another budget-friendly smartphone from realme.
Unboxing/Accessories
The realme C53 comes with the company’s signature bright yellow packaging with the big “C53” model printed on the front of the box and a small realme logo at the lower portion of the box.
Inside the box, you will find the realme C53 handset, 33W SuperVOOC power adapter, USB Type-A to USB Type-C data/charging cable, TPU dark translucent case for protection, paper documentation, and the SIM ejection tool are all included in the box.
Build Quality/Design
The realme C53, like most of the realme smartphones we reviewed is mostly made of durable polycarbonate plastic. While the front is made of glass. It also boasts a 7.49mm Ultra Slim Design with the same modern squared-off design as its predecessors, with rounded edges at the corners for easier grip. Its sleek appearance and refined finish set it apart from its rivals in the entry-level sector, making the device perfect for style-conscious shoppers on a budget.
Following in the footsteps of the realme C55, the new realme C53 has a 6.7″ HD+ display with a maximum brightness of 450 nits and a high 90.3% screen-to-body ratio for its pricing range. In addition to the aforementioned features, the realme C53 offers a 90Hz display with a quicker touch sampling or touch response rate of 180Hz.
The volume rocker and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner which ingeniously fuses the power button and fingerprint recognition modules are located on the right side of the device. The SIM tray, which holds two Nano SIM cards and a memory card slot is positioned on the left side. The bottom boasts a 3.5mm jack along with a USB Type-C port and the loudspeaker grille.
On top of the display is a Dewdrop Notch which houses the 8-megapixel Selfie Camera with an aperture of f/2.0. The Dynamic Island-like section displays a pill-shaped animation that displays your charging status, steps counter, low battery alerts, and other information. Powering this device is a massive 5,000mAh which is aided by a 33W SuperVOOC power adapter.
The realme C53, like its predecessor, has a Mini Capsule wrapped around its dewdrop notch. That displays low battery alerts, the phone’s charging status, and data consumption. It will also display your daily step count and walking distance. However, data usage and step count won’t be available out of the box and will arrive later through an update.
Camera
The realme C53 is equipped with a high-resolution 50-megapixel AI camera with a 0.8MP depth sensor that utilizes realme’s usual camera features inclusive of the standard Photo Mode, Night Mode, 50MP Mode, among others. It is also fined-tuned with realme’s own color reproduction algorithms for better overall image quality.
For selfies, it has a dewdrop notch with an 8-megapixel Selfie Camera with an aperture of f/2.0 and a FOV of 78° paired with the usual camera UI features for selfies from realme. Is also able to record 720p video at 30fps.
Here are some sample photos using realme C53:
Performance
The realme C53 boasts a powerful octa-core Unisoc T612 Processor that allows dual standby for two 4G SIM cards simultaneously. It comes with 6GB of RAM, expandable up to 12GB through realme’s Dynamic RAM Expansion is also now available out of the box for multitasking with ease.
The device provides ample storage with 128GB of internal storage, allowing you to store all of your favorite movies, photos, and important files in one place. It also supports storage expansion with a micro-SD Card up to 2TB via its dedicated slot.
As for the audio, It has an UltraBoom Speaker with a maximum volume level of 150%. Even at this level of volume, the sound quality is not bad. Apps are generally quick to load, and with the 90Hz refresh rate scrolling through menus feels smooth.
We checked its widevine security level, and it has an L3 security level, which is the most basic certification supported. This means that if you have a Widevine L3 device, the content will often play only at 480p. In any case, the screen is adequate for its intended use, which is content consumption, and you can still access HDR material.
The Realme C53 is powered by a compact and stable realme UI T Edition, which is based on Android 13. According to our benchmark test results, the phone received 257471 points on the AnTuTu benchmark, really good for a budget smartphone.
The device was able to carry out casual and light tasks without causing any issues. As for gaming experience in graphics-intensive titles is acceptable, with minor stutters and lags, even when using the lowest possible settings. Keep in mind that this is not a gaming smartphone, so don’t expect too much from it.
Battery
The realme C53 comes with an industry-standard 5000mAh battery that can easily last one full day with moderate to heavy usage. The phone also draws power from a 33W SUPERVOOC Charger, which can charge the smartphone to 50% in 34 minutes and 100% in only 85 minutes. This charger employs High Voltage, Low Current Charging technology which makes charging faster and has various safety features.
Verdict
If you want a stylish device with decent performance at a reasonable price, the realme C53 is the smartphone for you. The realme C53’s camera can generate images with accurate colors with good contrast. The mini capsule feature seems to be quite intriguing and has the potential to be game-changing. However, I would want to see more alerts integrated via the small capsule.
Furthermore, the battery life is excellent, making it an easy recommendation for individuals who are always on the move.
