Manulife Philippines is celebrating National Heart Month with the launch of a special video series featuring its brand ambassador, Filipino restaurateur and multi-awarded cultural storyteller Erwan Heussaff. The campaign aims to inspire Filipinos to make healthier choices through simple yet impactful lifestyle changes, particularly in their diet and nutrition.

The first video, now live on Manulife Philippines’ social media pages and YouTube, showcases Heussaff preparing a nutritious and heart-friendly meal for his wife, actress Anne Curtis. The featured dish, kinilaw, is a raw tuna delicacy served with a tangy sauce and roasted vegetables. This traditional Filipino recipe highlights the importance of using fresh, locally sourced ingredients that promote heart health and overall well-being.

“We know from research that heart disease and diabetes are among the most feared critical illnesses in the Philippines, and these are heavily influenced by lifestyle. It’s my ambition to show Filipinos that we can take practical steps to improve our health and reduce the chance of suffering from these diseases,” he shared. “This video series partnership with Manulife, which showcases how simple choices—such as cooking with whole foods and opting for local ingredients—can make a difference, is a great way to spread this message.”

A 2024 study conducted by Manulife Philippines revealed that many Filipinos still struggle to maintain a healthy lifestyle. While diet and nutrition rank among their top health priorities, barriers such as cost, taste preferences, and time constraints often hinder them from adopting healthier eating habits. Despite these challenges, Manulife remains committed to providing practical solutions that encourage Filipinos to take charge of their health.

“Through this collaboration with Erwan, we hope to inspire more Filipinos to see healthy meals as more than just nourishment,” shared Rahul Hora, President and Chief Executive Officer of Manulife Philippines. “Cooking these meals is also a simple yet meaningful way to care for yourself and those you hold dear.”

“Living a healthier lifestyle starts with conscious efforts to watch one’s diet and nutrition. At Manulife, we are committed to empowering Filipinos to make smarter health decisions—one meal, one plan at a time,” Hora added.

With more videos set to be released featuring the Heussaff family, Manulife Philippines continues to champion health and wellness as an integral part of Filipinos’ everyday lives. By making heart-friendly meals accessible and easy to prepare, the company hopes to encourage more individuals to embrace sustainable and health-conscious living.
