AirAsia Philippines has announced that wearing face masks shall no longer be implemented on all domestic flights. This follows the National Government’s decision to lift the state of public health emergency under Presidential Proclamation 297, supported by the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Department Order 2023-017.

Meanwhile, wearing face masks for international destinations shall remain subject to the existing health protocols in the destination country. AirAsia destinations Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan have lifted the face mask requirement as early as Q1 2023.

Despite dropping the face mask policy, AirAsia Philippines remains committed to adhering to the highest standards of safety among all its flights.

AirAsia Philippines Country Head for Communications and Public Affairs and Spokesperson Steve Dailisan said deep cleaning and aircraft sanitation will still be in effect on every after flight. This way, guests will have peace of mind and confidence as air travel returns to normalcy.

“There is no room for complacency in the airline business. We want our guests to feel secure when they fly with AirAsia. Although it is no longer a policy, guests, and crew may still opt to wear face masks whenever they deem necessary. However, we also want to reiterate that our aircraft are equipped with High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters which filter and block 99.97% of airborne particles including known bacteria and viruses,” Dailisan added.

The World’s Best Low-Cost Airline is also asking its guests for more patience as airport authorities have implemented the mandatory removal of shoes during final x-ray screening in the airport for enhanced security purposes.

“AirAsia supports activities that would enhance safety and security among all industry stakeholders. This additional layer of security screening should be viewed as a deterrent to illegal activities and other threats especially now that air travel is on its strong rebound,” Dailisan stressed.

To entice more guests to revisit their travel bucket list, AirAsia Philippines is connecting everyone to more experiences with “FlyThru”. From 24 to 30 July, guests can book PHP 257 one-way base fare for domestic and international flights and PHP 2,293 for other international destinations flying thru Kuala Lumpur such as Sydney, Perth, and Melbourne, for travels from 24 July to 30 September 2023.

AirAsia Philippines is also reminding its guests to allot an allowance of at least 3 hours for domestic and 4 hours for international travel. The World’s Best Low-Cost Airline is also informing its guests that NAIA Terminal 2 is AirAsia’s new domestic terminal while maintaining NAIA Terminal 3 for international flights. Meanwhile, all travel advisories and other information regarding flight schedules are regularly updated and posted via the AirAsia travel safety website.
